That matches the same week last year and is 1,000 head lighter t. Federally inspected cattle slaughter was estimated at 377,000 head for the week through Wednesday. Wholesale Boxed Beef prices were another $1.33 lower in Choice and $1.75 weaker in Select. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was up by another $1.04 to $226.01 on 6/27. USDA mentioned some light cash trade near $180-$184 in the WCB for Wednesday, and some light Southern cash trade from $178-$179 on Tuesday. The Wednesday FCE auction sold 254 at $180.75 out of the 1,326 head listed. The August contract led the rally, but is still at a $5.75 discount to June – which expires on Friday. The live cattle futures market also firmed on Wednesday, with $0.32 to $1.37 gains. August feeders went home $4.92 under their LoC high and ~$4.95 under the all time high from 2014. The pressure in the grain market gave the feeder cattle more room on Wednesday, as the board settled triple digits higher.
